Today we are announcing the impending departure of Lisa Jaguzny, long-time leader of the Campion Foundation and founding CEO of the Campion Advocacy Fund.

Jaguzny will begin work as the new Executive Director for Oxbow Farm & Conservation Center, a living laboratory for sustainable agriculture, outdoor environmental education, native plants, and environmental stewardship in Carnation, Washington.

Lisa Jaguzny first joined the Campion Foundation nearly 10 years ago. In the past decade she has worked closely with Campion’s trustees to refine our mission and strategy to focus on advocacy, culminating in the establishment of an advocacy-focused 501(c)(4) nonprofit in addition to the original 501(c)(3) foundation.

“In addition to her stalwart leadership of the Campion Foundation and Campion Advocacy Fund, Lisa has been a strong leader in our missions to protect wilderness, end homelessness, and build nonprofit capacity,” said founding trustees Sonya and Tom Campion. “Lisa has earned the trust of nonprofit leaders, philanthropists, and elected officials across the country who have come to rely on her advocacy expertise. We wish her the absolute best in her next chapter.”

Since she started in 2008, Jaguzny and the Campion team have served a pivotal role in many of the national fights around wilderness conservation. She partnered with the Obama Administration and members of Congress on crafting rules and policy related to federal lands protection in the American West and supported numerous creative campaigns to permanently protect the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge. Jaguzny visited the Arctic Refuge several times and prioritized support for Arctic indigenous communities, elevating indigenous voices and helping build the next generation of leaders.

Jaguzny is also the outgoing Board President of the Biodiversity Funders Group, formerly the Consultative Group on Biological Diversity, and current Board Treasurer for the Western Conservation Foundation. Prior to starting at Campion, she served for 11 years as Deputy Director of People For Puget Sound.

The Campion trustees are currently finalizing the search process for our next Chief Executive Officer and will make additional announcements on that process in the coming weeks.
